Blog #10: Self Reflection

1. I think so far I am at a P level because I have everything I need completed, the only thing I don't have is my service learning and that is because the woman quit her job. I am still in the process of looking for other places. I have also gone above and beyond with most of my research checks.

2. One thing I have done well on is being better at looking up reliable information. It is hard to find countable research on nutrition because everything is mostly about propaganda, but I have slowly learned how to pinpoint what is propaganda and what isn't.

3. One thing I would like to improve on would be finding a service learning place. Hopefully, I will have a set place by next week.

Blog #8: What I've learned so far

Q: What have you learned how to do since you started working on your senior project?
A: I know dealing it is hard to find the legitimate research when dealing with research, but i have slowly learned how to identify which can be trusted and which can't be. Although, I am still learning, I can somewhat tell research that are formed by the food industries as propaganda and information coming from a real source.

This is the cover of the book.
This is around the beginning of the book.
This is the towards the end of the book.
Photo: This is an example of the research I am looking at where I know the food industry does not use to give out false information. I know this because it talks about how the food industry creates false propaganda for their own benefit within the introduction.

Q: What research helped you to do this and how?*
A: This research helped me out with what I learned because of the facts it stated in the introduction. This book is called Eating for Life by Bill Phillips. Someone else that also helped me was Mr.Ogden because he was the first one to point out that food industries don't always state the truth on their labels and got me digging deep into finding actual research.

Blog #1: Senior Project Topic

Q: What is your topic?
A: Nutrition

Q: Why?
A: I want to do my senior project on nutrition because I want to learn how to change my eating habits for the better. I got inspired to do so after Mr. Ogden talked to our class and shared interesting facts about unhealthy living. One of the things he said was that everything we are currently eating might not effect us now, but it will catch up with us in our 30's or 40's. The foods that we are eating now may lead to heart disease, diabetes, and possibly an early death. After this I knew I had to make a change because my daily diet consists of mostly fast food and junk food. I also knew that if I wanted to make this big change I would have to be dedicated and do a lot of research, instead of just reading one book, so I decided to make this my senior project.

Q: What do you hope to accomplish after studying this topic this year?
A: In the end, I hope to accomplish a healthier life style. Although, I don't plan on going to the extreme and completely give up everything. I just want to find a good balance of being able to enjoy what I eat and being healthy.
